Statement: Painting has made me cognizant of my surroundings. My
camera is always at my side, since I often feel the urge to stop and capture
an image. I can hardly wait to paint my next creation and there are so many
impressions out there waiting for me to be transferred into a new piece of art.
Background: Her background of nutrition and dietetics and working in
both military (WWII) and civilian hospitals seems a far cry to her present
love of painting. It evolved, when moving to this area after retirement. At that time she started taking watercolor classes from Anita Ellison, who has been very encouraging and helpful. Pete paints florals, landscapes and architectural landmarks. Her series "Our Town, Whimsy and Nostalgia" was a very satisfying object for her and a favorite for many collectors of her work. Besides from the Gallery and local businesses, she has displayed her paintings in many art shows. Pete belongs to the Olympia Art League and is a working member of the Artist's Gallery.
