Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois within an outgoing family that had friends and relatives in and out on a regular basis. Sports, games, outside activities during the summer and indoor arts and crafts during the winter months were ongoing. Among our friends was Byron Everheart, a Chicago artist who took an interest in demonstrating and teaching art to children in the family. An early love of paint on paper which allowed the exploration of colors and shapes started a life long path begun by this gentle, creative family friend and artist.
Throughout the years of continued education, marriage, raising four children and working as a Special Education teacher, art was always a part of our family life. Long walks to see the splendor of nature, watching the sun go down and the deep blue emerge along with the darks shadows of the hills and trees, visits to art museums and gardens and bringing color and design into our home were all a part of our family life.
As time allowed workshops, art lessons were included which kept alive the joy of painting. To each a creative wave emerges and painting with all its variations of color, shapes, contrasts, balance and off balance, brings a sense of awe that remains, grows and changes with each day. What a joy!
