Equally colorful as her fiber work, her abstract mixed media paintings harness details inspired by nature. These layered, acrylic canvases capture and explore the balance of organic imagery with geometric, grid like shapes and repeated patterns. Hand stitched nylon thread appears in some paintings which add additional texture and detail.
Julie was born in California; has lived in Olympia, Washington since 2005 and is the mother of 2 awesome humans. She is a lifelong swimmer and the love of water is a source of inspiration, along with botanical details, succulents, and all things patterned, including vintage handkerchiefs, quilts, woven tapestries and rugs. She enjoys swimming, cycling, kayaking, gardening and the warmth of the sunshine!
Julie graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1991 with a BFA in Textile Design. Julie travels and sells her work at various national juried art shows across the country.
